LS2 Coil Question

I've gone and bought myself some LS2 coils and now I'm getting stumped on the wiring and ECU settings.

This is the coil with built in igniter


This is the wiring diagram:


Firstly, does the EMU output at +5V on the ignition outputs? In which case am I wiring the C terminal to the ignition output and having the B terminal ground to the sensor ground?

Secondly, as the coils has a built-in igniter, I won't want to use the "Coils without amplifier" option, would I?

I know the second question is dumb, but the more I think about it, the more it confuses me.

Have the connectors disconnected while you do your configuration/updating firmware.
Use coil WITH amplifiers settings. These coils works great and i used them with Emu today without any problems.

Don't overdwell them. At 3ms they have a energy output of 108 mJ.

They are great coils and very easy to find here in Au, i often just use one of them on engines with a distributor!

are LS1 and LS2 the same? handy if we have a preset wizard for the dwell times

Don't overdwell them. At 3ms they have a energy output of 108 mJ.

But feel free to play arround with dwell, because LS2 coils have an over-dwell-protection wich comes active at about 7ms. Tested it

The problem with overdwelling these coils is that you sometimes get an erratic sparkangle due to dwell/heat protection goes in.
The absolute max is 4.7 in my opinion, if you increase dwell above this it doesn't give you any more output energy due to the coil is full.
Insted you get heat

I am currently using LS7 coils, would the ideal dwell time 3ms @ 14V? Although they look a bit different people say the specification is quite equal.
Could you post the datasheet in here so I can check what the optimum dwell should be in higher/lower voltage ranges?

I wasn't that far of. Only problem I have now is that after a compression check, change in ignition wires (from MSD to regular built in resistor wires) and a correct ignition output sequence 2 coils have seem to failed. If I connect them to another plug were the coil is working from they don't fire anymore.

Am I looking something overhead? Can these coils handle some heat? After shut down of the engine the heat from the t/c's is coming up and might overheat them.

I also use the ignition wires with pure copper core, if I damage a coil I'll let you know At the moment, the coils work fine.

you do realize they have built in igniters?? so COILS WITH AMPLIFIER needs to be selected!
