Knock sensing filter Feature
I don't know how (or when) EMU is listening for knock but i read that in the past some ECUs just listened to knock when ignition appeared (with an time window). In this way it was possible to eleminate a lot of
wrong signals through engine noise.
Maybe you could implement such feature to EMU ?

Knock windowing is part of the Knock chipset being used. You provide a window in crank degrees for the EMU to look for knock.bmwmaster wrote:Knock sensing filter Feature

The Flex Fuel scale factor is awesome!, but it got me thinking. Is there a way to incorporate it into a dual map set-up that has no FF sensor attached? It would require manually entering the ethanol percentage, and we'd need 2 places to do that. then i think all the FF blending tables would allow "map switching" by switching from one ethanol content to another. Blend tables would become more binary, and tuning will have to be done carefully like with a normal dual map setup, compensating for potential change in ethanol content, but we do that with dual map tunes already anyway.
Maybe just create a second switchable ethanol content failsafe value, and allow it to go above E50?
The end goal, is a single VE table for dual map tunes...

it could be done with a 3D trim table that is applied with a 2D ethanol content scale

Is it possible to change load to psi? if not can that be added as som of us will be familiar with psi and more comortable with that.
Also one other feature i would like is map trace trail so you can see which cells were used by a colour change.

What about Rotary / Wankel engine support? I know it is not scheduled yet but would like to know if it is planned?

Hi,
I'm new to EMU, but so far so good.
I think it would be great to have keys for increasing/decreasing fuel and ignition timing separate.
When I'm tuning on a dyno, I need to click on the map I want to edit and then press + or -
Let's say I would be able to set: + = increase fuel, - = decrease fuel, pageUp = increase timing, pageDown = decrease timing
Also, It's good to have permanent correction which user can change while tuning, and then just apply on current cell with a press of a button.
This doesn't require to press +/- multiple times on each active cell, but just change the correction for each new cell and apply.
This method is used in DTAfast ECUs for example with the dyno box, which has it's pros and cons.
But I think this is easily achievable on just keyboard as well.
I hope I explained myself clearly.
If this is already possible, or there are other, better methods of live tuning please let me know.

I'm assuming that would require input from an ethanol content sensor? if so, we already have that capability. I'm looking for a switchable dual-map option, with a manually input ethanol content. Maybe it's a wast of time and I just need to tell my customers to spend the extra $$ for an ethanol sensor, then they could take advantage of fuel temp compensation too.

Some BUGs i found while trying to adjust Idle.Version 1.157
First one is related to the secondary output in the idle parameters. If you have everything working and remove the secondary output and put it to NONE, or something esle nothing changes. Usually it should automatically try to stall the car, or fly the RPMs. However, if you after that tick the Reverse polarity and then remove it the setting takes effect.
Second one is related to the IDL OFF register. My TPS is showing 0.51v at idle, i have put the minimal TPS voltage to 0.51, and set the idle OFF setting to 1% , however the ECU thinks i am still at idle, even if i give throttle up to 0,6+ volts. This is creating some trouble, when cruising with very little throttle over 1500rpm. I have put the fuel cut on deccel to 1500, so if i cruise at 2k rpm with very light throttle the injectors shut off sometimes, because the ECU thinks i am not giving it any throttle due to IDL being illuminated.
I can provide videos, of both thingies, if needed.

there is no logic for it to be a TPS issue, when i see that the EMU is registering the votage change, meaning the TPS works. I can see the TPS showing 0,6+, even 0.7+ volts on the EMU, but the IDL register still shows green meaning the EMU thinks i am at Idle. If it was a worn TPS then the voltage would have stayed the same. I will experiment by moving the TPS position and adjusting settings, so that the IDLE voltage is at least 0.65v and see what happens.

If You going to use both gasoline and ethanol it is quite difficult to get pure blend of fuel in the tank. At least this was problem that i`ve experienced when tuning for FF. Blend % was all over the place, no matter how empty i try to drive. And this is where sensor comes in handy. It`s probably absolutely another story if You have separate tanks for fuels. Also sensor is not that expencive

just log the raw TPS voltage at closed and full throttle then enter those two voltages directly into the tps calibration. Make certain your engine doesnt have a mechanical idle up mechanism/actuator on the throttle body, some engines have this and it will cause all sorts of problems.gips wrote:Hello,

Absolutely a problem to get the tank "clean" for different fuel. I pull return line and let the car idle until the FPR stops bypassing, and then i know i got as much as possible out, then completely fill tank with "other" fuel. The reason for dual maps, and no FF sensor, is for the guys that just need that second map for emergencies, when they can't get E85. Yeah the sensor is cheap, and i'll probably just start pushing all my E85 customers to use the sensor anyway for all the FF benefits, and fuel temp correction.
