Setting up the knock control at a 1,8T AGU
Hello,
i have some problems with the secondary trigger on my 1,8T AGU.
Only with primary trigger runs and the EMU can sucsessfully syncronized. But when i set also the secondary trigger to default 1,8T then is the status while cranking everytime the status syncronizing and thats all.
I hope you can give me some support. The scope looks good in my opinion.
best regards,
Jan
Here my confuguration and the log files.
EDIT: Sorry i forgot the configuration file =)

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
I think the problem ist the type of the trigger wheel. Because the first AGU trigger wheels had only one gap. And the newer ones have 4 gaps.
After work today i will check and test it. If i have some news i report it.

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
The triggers won’t synchronize, because You have 4 equal lengths signals . It’s appears every 30 teeth (dt ~ 116 ms). Emu can use multitooth signals for cam sync, but gap between one signal in cycle must be shorter or longer than others. For example 4 signals with 1 missing tooth. Otherwise Emu don’t know when cycle of the engine has started.
Changing of the edge helps, usually cams have uneven signals on cam trigger sensor, because stock ECU also must determine when engine start or end the cycle. Just change edge form falling to rising in secondary trigger and make a scope.
I’m also worry about primary trigger signal. On scope missing tooth gap looks weird. Gap between first tooth after missing teeth is longer almost 2 times that others edges. Try change Edge in primary trigger from rising to falling. Check the scope, if gaps will be equal after missing tooth, left falling edge, or just make scope with inverted edges and attach file to forum.

Jan32 plese change both edges on primary and secondary trigger and send new scope trace from EMU
For CAM you need to use trigger type VW 1.8T (but proper edge must be selected)

Ok now i tested the other settings for primary and secondary trigger and it looks better.
I hope it is now correct, i will test it at the weekend with the ignition timing light.
Big thanks for the support

Your scope looks perfect now
Tommorow I will try to find ignition settings for your engine.

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
Perfect,
what do you mean? The ingnition table or the primary trigger settings?
I have the ignition table from the original one but it is based on MAF. The wiiring is completly done, i build a p&p adapter with a empty housing of an Bosch ME 3.8 controller.
Use the clutch switch for launch indicator with a small MUX circuit board. And also a table switch with MUX.
At the weekend i will present my project. If you need the wiring diagramm and the ME 8.3 pinout i can give you that. If yes please give me some time to translate, because i make it in german
I love now the functions of the EMU. But a autotune function for partial load would be perfect

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
Please find attached config for 1.8T.
Please check with the timing light the base ignition angle (you can use option ignition lock from primary trigger parameters).

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
Today i checked the ignition with the timing light and the ignition angle was exactly on TDC. But i use following config.
And the Motor does not running. When i put the sec trigger of the motor runns. Maybe the Coils 1_4 and 2_3 are interchanged.
I will test your config tomorrow, thanks for that. But why i have to use "Distributor" and output offset 2 ?

A few minutes ago i tried your configuration and the engine runs perfect
Now i can fill the VE Table and all the rest of the configuration.
Just for understanding, why i have to use "Distributor" and output offset 2? Yust to know

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
Hi!
Good news
Spark distribution means the way how the dwell is calculated. If you use distributor the dwell time must be calculated betwen each cylinder spark so the time for spark is reduced. For coils type spark distribution the time for dwell is much much longer.
There should be coils for your engine
However it will work with distributor until your dwell will be in 180 degrees limit.
Output offset is used to change cylinder phase.
If output offset is 0 ignition event 1 assigned coil will produce spark first.
If output offset is 0 ignition event 2 assigned coil will produce spark first.
Output offset 2 is used to change engine phase. With offset 0 the spark will be in incorrect engine phase.

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
So it is better to cange it to "Coils" right?
Next job at the weekend will be to tun the stepper output on the AGU throttle. But i think it runs with high frequency.
Ill give you a feedback how is it going. Thanks for support.

Use coils.
And for idle motor please use injector or aux output with addtional flyback diode.

Re: Problem with the second trigger at a 1,8T AGU
Hey guys, i´m coming now directly from my first round with the car and EMU powered.
Perfect ECU every thing workes fine, i run now without boost control only against the wastegate spring that openes at 0,4bar. The temporary VE Table ist filled and AFR looks quite good.
Partial load is now better than with the Bosch ECU on MAF and i think that the map from my tuner is really bad on the ME3.8
I´m very happy that the first test drive was so successfully.
Thanks for the great support so far
On Sunday i will open my project topic and give some more details and infos of the car.

Re: Questions about the VE values at a AGU 1,8T
Hi,
i hope you all had a nice weekend. But it is every weekend the same it is to short!
I have a questien about the VE Table, bacause i have values aut idle about 70. It seems to me very high, AFR is ok at 14. And the EMU runs full sequeniell. And i use the injector wizard for the Deka 630.

Re: Questions about the VE values at a 1,8T AGU
What did you enter in injectors size field ?
Can you attach log file from idle ?
Can you attach log file from idle ?
Re: Questions about the VE values at a 1,8T AGU
Injector size field is 630cc/min
And here is some log where you can see idle and VE about 78.
I think there is everything right engine displacement is 1792cc.

Can you put here your whole VE table ?
What fuel do you use ?
Is your WBO correctly calibrated ?

E85 right?
Doesn´t the 1,8T have 3,8 bar of fuel preassure also standard?
