Review 3sgte Ignition Map
Post
by pepifebles » Sun Feb 14, 2016 11:13 pm
Hi, This is my current ignition map of my 3sgte 3gen Celica Gt Four . Think it's very consevative? I feel my engine a little slow at high rpm. My engine is forged, hybrid turbo set to 1.2 bar, 98 octane and ngk grade 7
Regards

What does your knock sensor tell you? That's a loaded question, you may not be using one, but they are very helpful in situations like this. Every engine is different, and safe timing on one could damage another. That being said...
At the very least run the same timing as 210 in 230 Load column. and move the 230 timing to 250kpa. I'm not one for lowering timing so dramatically in higher load, especially on a 3sgte. Too little timing can be just as bad as too much.
Stock timing is very aggressive, but they also run them very rich, and there are a lot of over-protective nannies to keep the engine alive.

First of all thanks for yours advise. Its difficult find info about this things.
I run stock knock sensor y dont tell me anything

. I dont know if its for bad set or other things. How configure this sensor?
Base timing has been checked, 10ºbtdc. My afr its about 11,6/11,8

The stock sensor is "loud"and does not play well with the EMU. You will get more useable info by switching to a flat response knock sensor like the ST246 Caldina or just about any modern Toyota uses. There is even a stud made by toyota to mount the sensor to your existing KNK sensor boss.

Looks too safe indeed for 98 and this AFR. I run mine around the same timing for 170-190kpa, cause i use the stock turbo. However i run it on 95 octane and low 13s AFR, so in my opinion, yes you may add a few degrees. However its most important what do you use the car for. Mine is a daily, if yours is a track car, then i would be very, very careful with the timing, because the temperatures tend to get very high , when on the track. Both engine bay, coolant and EGT, so that is pretty much the most important part. You can't risk it on a track engine, it just gets too hot, so using headphones and mapping on the track itself is the way forward.
