I am planning to toggle the DME relay from the EMU Black. I've got constant power from the 9 pin plug that originally went to the DME but I need a switched source for EMU.. It seems as if the only switched wire are the Red/White/Yellow dot wires and those are powered from the DME relay.
Can someone give me some insight on this?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
E46 Main (DME) Relay / Switched Power Issue (EWS?)
Re: E46 Main (DME) Relay / Switched Power Issue (EWS?)
Use wire from ignition switch to power emu (switched +12V) and any of aux output to control main relay

I have found a switched ignition source right next to the starter signal in the 8 pin connector. This should be sufficient to turn the ECU on.
ADDITIONAL QUESTION
The clutch switch signal that comes into the DME.. Is that a 'Ground to signal' switch? I'm wanting to use the clutch switch as my flat shift activation. Should I use an inverted switch input?
This is how I wired the EMU into the car. One deutsch 6P connector for power stuff and a 12p for DBW/can/brake/clutch and other chassis functions. Should make for a nice installation.

Which 8-pin connector? Is this signal originally connected to the DME and which pin?cmj wrote:I have found a switched ignition source right next to the starter signal in the 8 pin connector. I think that the original DME gets "wake up" signal from the EWS and it is digital data signal, so it can't be used for EMU. It is in 40-pin connector at pin number 33.
Maybe the most reliable way to wake up the EMU is to do like Jazdwin wrote. Unless you are 100% sure that the signal you found is always active with ignition on.

Here are more info. It seems to be ground signal, so it should work with EMU.cmj wrote:The clutch switch signal that comes into the DME.. Is that a 'Ground to signal' switch? I'm wanting to use the clutch switch as my flat shift activation. Should I use an inverted switch input?

It turns out that this was an Auto car originally so the clutch switch isn't wired through.. Non issue for right nowmagelius wrote:Here are more info. I pulled my ignition switched source from S_OLD which is the voltage supply for the oil level sensor. From what I could see in the WDS this should remain powered at all times the ignition is on. Everything tested great when I plugged it all in, i'm just awaiting the motor to come in this week and then I can start patching in the motor harness to the EMU.
