Are there enough input / outputs

Post by headsock » Mon Sep 25, 2017 11:25 am

Couldn't find a spec sheet. Would the base EMU work or will I need an EMU black. Which of the following are dedicated input/outputs?

Inputs
TPS
VSS
2 cam
crank
Potentiometer switch
oil temp
oil pressure
coolant temp
flex fuel sensor
ac signal from climatronic
external wideband
methanol pressure

Outputs
6 injector
6 ignition
2 knock sensor
2 vvt
IAC
tach signal
boost solenoid
fan switch
ac compressor
shift light
fuel pump
main relay
methanol pump PWM
methanol solenoid 12v
speedometer signal
altenator control

Thanks for that. Lol yeah was being lazy, was playing with the client. It looks like the EMU CAN has enough inputs for most, but is lacking outputs for the basics (but could probably hook up a couple together like ac and fans)

Can the stepper outputs be used for solenoids or switched relay are they overload protected?

Is there a manual for the EMU CAN?

Every circuit has build in overheat protection, but i will not recommend to do so. You can use the Stepper outputs too, they have only lower current, but enough for Relay coil. They are even stronger on EMU BLACK.
Just be carefull because this are bipollar transistors and it is very easy to power up EMU trough them.

I dont have the Ecumaster CAN protocol description, but you can create your own CAN messages for read and write what do you want/need to.

I think the main limitations will be, only one PWM output is possible

Only one PWM map? G12, which is needed for my IAC control. So no Meth control.

Which would recommend for the stepper out. Relay or boost solenoid?

Attached what I came up with. I still need an input for AC. Is MUX input reliable?

hmmm.........
the FlexFuel Sensor should be connected to CAMsync #2 and this is what you need to control your secondary cam... os also conflict....

You can use one single analog input to provide 3 information using MUX resistor divider. But this informations must be just switches ON/OFF and the can have any king of additional voltage on them.

you have just 4 independent analog inputs
6AUX outputs (normal current)
4stepper outputs (low current)

i would generally think more about EMU BLACK in your case
it has dedicated FF sensor input
it has 6 analog inputs
it has 3 additional switch inputs
it can handle LSU 4.2 but also LSU 4.9
it has high current steppers

What exactly do you mean by this? Fry circuits or cause a stutter?

Flex sensor is optional. Just want it in case an e85 station opens up near me.

Black is better suited and in the grand scheme, isn't really that much more. It's still 300 though.

With the mux and vss boost switch, i got almost all i want. Just worried with the stepper circuit.

How come boost isnt included in table switching?

You can use same switch for switching maps and also the boost, just in other table

Ahh yes. Just use select same input for the switch :D
